Fight The Spiritual Battle

BlazingArchon (2)Since the beginning of time, war has been waged against God and all those who believe in Him. Satan has made every allowable attempt to rid the world of believers and those who profess God as their one true Lord and Savior. Satan’s conquest to seek out believers forces us to consider that the battle is no figment of our imagination; it exists, and if it exists, then God exists.

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

“…Satan has desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat.” Luke 22:31

The spiritual battle is alive and active today like never before. Sadly, many believers don’t realize the battle is real. If truth be told, we have allowed the enemy strongholds in our lives and don’t even recognize it. For example, we worry more about the latest culture trends, what church programs we have, and how we can impress others, than we do about fighting the enemy. We choose menial activities over spending time with God. We spend hours on end watching television/computer, but we don’t give God the time of day. One of Satan’s biggest attacks is bringing comfort and complacency into the lives of believers, which causes them to ignore Satan, rather than battling against him.  The more the church is silenced, the more room he has to thrive.

Satan doesn’t focus his attacks on non-believers, no he focuses them on those who are the ‘problem,’ that is, us believers. So whether or not you are ready, as a believer, you are on his hit list. This is why Satan has been intensifying his attacks on the church, a church, might I add, that has been withdrawing from the battle lines.

But now is the time to wake up and let go of strongholds. It’s time to put up our fists and fight the spiritual battle ahead. It’s time to wage a war against the enemy.

So how do we fight a spiritual battle? For starters we don’t fight with swords, we fight with power from on high…

“We are human, but we don’t wage war with human plans and methods. We use God’s mighty weapons, not mere worldly weapons, to knock down the Devil’s strongholds…” 2 Cor. 10:4

One of the most important weapons we have in our arsenal is the Word of God. From it we learn, we teach, we are encouraged, we are corrected, and through it we can remind Satan of his eventual doom. It’s our lifeline, it’s our love letter, from our Lord.

The second weapon we have in our arsenal is the armor of God. In Ephesians 6:11 it tells us to, Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Each day pray to wrap yourself in His armor. Stand in truth, peace, faith, and be assured of your salvation.

The third weapon is prayer. Through prayer we can fight any unseen battle. I have heard stories of X-Satan worshipers claiming they couldn’t get through to certain areas to curse them because Christians were standing on the corner praying. There is power in prayer! This is exactly why our God says it’s a weapon to battle with. Prayer is a force to be reckoned with. Because through it, we contact the Living King! Not only that but it scares Satan like crazy! Let’s make Satan’s hairs stand up on the back of his head, and pray.

The fourth weapon is fasting. It allows us to discipline our body and mind, like a warrior in training.

Finally, the last weapon we have in our arsenal is the church. Fellowship is of utmost importance when it comes to spiritually battles. We need other believers to come along side us. Each of us are gifted in different ways and we can help each other. We can be lifted when we fall, or given aid, when needed. We can pray in a group, which is even strong then single prayer. We can hold each other accountable and fight the enemy arm in arm. Please don’t discount the effectiveness of fellowship. This is why Jesus had 12 disciples, not 1. He knew they would hold each other up. Don’t fail to recognize the power in fellowship.

Now that we know what we have in our arsenal and how to use it! Lets fight that spiritual battle!

Love you all!

  4. AMEN!! All of us who are forgiven followers of Jesus Christ, and reconciled to Almighty God because of Jesus sacrifice in our place on the cross should be making sure we are “armored up” every day. The enemy doesn’t like it when a joy-filled servant of God goes out in obedience and lives and life of faith, hope and love!
It IS time for those who claim the name of Christ as Savior to realize this!! There are too many adopted children being led away from the true Gospel! Thank you again for a great post. I would like to reblog this if it’s ok.
    Be blessed,
    Stephanie

  5. Reblogged this on HOPE and PEACE In An Uncertain World and commented:
This post addresses a very important truth that each adopted, blood bought child of God needs to acknowledge. It’s more than worth your time reading.

  9. “Sadly, many believers don’t realize the battle is real.”
That is EXACTLY right! Many believe in God but it’s like a fairy tale to them. I’m working on a piece about love which touches on this as well. Good post.

  10. I had retread this again to remind myself today. I think another way Satan attacks Christians is by destroying the family dynamic. Thanks again for posting this! Very encouraging!
